Nifty Thrifty: Shoe + Purse Combo for $10 + Gwynnie Bee Dress

Image
One of my favorite thrift store finds thus far is a shoulder bag and pump combo I scooped up while hanging around Goodwill.  The shoes are by a specialty company called Samanta, and the snakeskin-look bag is by Talbots. The shoes alone retail close to $125 online. I estimate the bag was originally purchased for about $50. Together, the items cost me a little over $10 secondhand. Similar shoe by Samanta. My exact shoe was not on the website. I love how these pieces coordinate so well. I originally picked them out to wear with my Easter Sunday outfit earlier in the year. I thought the purse and shoes would go nicely with my Gwynnie Bee dress by Flying Tomato. Below I've created an outfit with my favorite sweater, the purse & shoe combo, and a dress from my Gwynnie Bee box.  I thought this outfit was cute and felt perfect for the summer. I actually wore it to see Hamilton on Sunday.  These shoes will be great for transitioning into the fa

$4 Picnic Basket

Image
As a lady who loves her getaways, I always try my best to keep things thrifty by saving money when possible. Often, this includes making meals in advance of my trip and packing a lunch. Usually, I throw my snacks in whatever I can get my hands on. I own I pretty standard cooler bag, but I've always wanted a nice wicker basket for special occasions. Image from Amazon I nearly purchased this basket from Amazon. I figured I may not find a better deal than $22. Though an oddly specific item, I decided to push my luck by searching for one at a thrift store. I'm usually bouncing around between several Goodwill stores as well as Waldorf Family Thrift. Over the course of about three weeks, I randomly popped into several of my favorite secondhand stores until... I found this awesome wicker basket for only $3.99! Despite the wicker being frayed in one place on the inside, it is in great condition! I can easily fix it using pliers and super glue. It was totally worth the

$10 Pumps from Goodwill

Image
A few years ago a bought a super cute pair of t-strap pumps from DSW. There were black, faux leather, and I eventually wore them into the ground due to constant wear. Imagine my dismay when I couldn't find a similar pair anywhere. After years of searching, hoping, and praying I found this pair of t-strap, patent-leather pumps at Goodwill. Despite being a bit squeaky when walking, they were in near perfect condition. I receive compliments each time I wear them! These are the perfect, versatile heel. I couldn't beat the price for $10! What is your favorite thrifted find for under $10?

Upcycled $5 Antique Lamp

Image
After searching for months for the perfect coffee table, I lucked out when I found this amazing $5 antique lamp at the thrift store! However, this is NOT it the same shape I found it.   When I initially spotted it in the thrift store, it wasn't painted and was covered in chips and scratches. The base was wiggly, and it didn't have a lampshade. Despite all this, I still thought it was adorable. I loved that it is a side table and lamp duo. You can't beat $5 for well-made furnishings! I had already ordered rose gold paint for the legs of my living room chairs, and thought it might be a great idea to paint my side table lamp the same color. It took only two coats to get the final look. I didn't do anything beforehand besides wipe down the piece with a damp rag to remove dust. I didn't sand it at all. I ordered the paint from Amazon and bought the brush from Dollar Tree. To better hide the imperfections and scratches in the wood, I tapped the second c
